Welcome to the play-cricket website for South Manchester Junior Cricket League (SMJCL). The League was established in 1974 by a handful of member clubs who initially played only an Under 18 Competition. SMJCL has grown from strength to strength over the years, expanding its to its present size (currently 24 clubs), and providing cricket in age groups from Under 9 to Under 18. The ethos of the League is cricket development at all levels, with the intention of taking the most able players forward into senior cricket.

Current competitions are:

  • League format (round-robin): Under 9 (friendly games Incrediball 'pairs'), Under 10 (friendly games, hard ball 'pairs'), Under 11, Under 12, Under 13 and Under 15.
  • Cup format (knockout): Under 9,  Under 10, Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15.
  • An Under 18 T20-style competition played initially as mini-leagues and, later, as a knockout  stage with three possible trophies. The competition concludes with a finals day where three finals are played at the same venue.
